THE RUST STORY

When the company’s current management took over in May of 2003, the first realization was that the steel product offered by every security door manufacturer had a very serious problem - it would soon rust. The warranties offered by all of the companies protected the consumers investment for only a short time, following which, the door was sure to begin rusting. We quickly learned that over 35% of our sales were realized because we were replacing doors that had rusted, even in areas like Phoenix, and that we, as well as our competitors, were doing our customers a disservice by producing steel doors. Our business and our reputation was at stake and we had to make changes to guarantee a viable product to our consumers.

DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR INVESTMENT

We immediately began the process of finding a material that would not rust, but could be engineered to have the strength needed for our
security doors. Looking to commercial buildings, we quickly realized that virtually all commercial buildings like banks, schools and high rises throughout the world used the same material, a 6063-T6 aluminum alloy that is very strong and durable and, when engineered correctly, was a far better replacement for the 16 gauge steel everyone was using that would quickly rust and weaken.

Within a few months, we engineered proprietary extrusions that guaranteed the strength needed in our doors to pass our rigid static force strength tests and surpass the limited strength shown by steel so that we could assure the consumer of a superior product. These tests confirmed our strength at up to 80% stronger than steel doors with verified test results. Our engineers also invented special hinges, assembly techniques and quality assurance, making our products the best in the marketplace.

We then had to completely re-tool and re-equip our production facility to produce this exceptional proprietary product. We invested in the most modern equipment available to assure quality and durability; Amada® Laser cutters, Motoman® robotics for welding, a top quality Nordson® powder coat paint line with a 7 stage pre treatment process, plus CNC and CAD systems for superior control.

And so, the rust story has a happy ending. After investing millions of dollars, the end result is a proprietary product that has no equal in the USA. In addition to the most beautiful doors and gates in the business, we now protect our customers investment with the best warranties in the business. We are justly proud of our products and service and we firmly believe that you cannot find a door or gate that can match the beauty, or durability of our product. Best of all, there is NO MORE RUST!

Strength Tested

All of our doors are produced using 6063-T6 architectural grade metal alloy. They are designed for beauty and engineered using materials 50% thicker than other manufacturers that use standard 16 gauge steel.
In tests conducted by an independent laboratory, our 1½” door frames tested up to 80% stronger than those competitors using 2 inch 16 gauge steel frames. These static force elastic limits far exceed the measured standard of competitive doors.

Best of Class Manufacturing

Our Arizona based manufacturing facility boasts the most modern Amada laser cutters, unsurpassed robotic welding equipment and one of the finest powder coat paint lines in the country, allowing us to meet American Architectural Manufacturers Association specification standard #2604. Add to that our modern CAD systems and stringent quality control and it’s no wonder that Unique Home Designs can offer a product that is simply the best when it comes to strength and durability. This directly translates into lasting value for our customers.

Door designs and art placement will vary by size of door. Unless requested otherwise at time of purchase, orientation of design in the finished door will be as shown whether the handle/lock is on the right or on the left. Exceptions are the sunburst designs: the center of the sunburst will be placed on the same side as the handle lock and at the same level as the handle/lock. To maintain proper quality levels and appearance, we reserve the right to change the processes or suppliers of included or optional items as required. Orders cannot be cancelled after 3 days of receipt. See price list at your local Home Depot Store. Prices are subject to change without notice. Custom sizes larger than 36” X 80” and custom art designs are subject to additional charges. See Warranty for complete details on warranted items.
